5 WISCONSIN SPOTS TO EXPLORE THIS SUMMER
Looking for weekend getaway ideas for the summer? Wisconsin has a variety of attractions scattered all over the state. Some are family-friendly destinations and others make for gorgeous and relaxing romantic getaways. There is something to do for everyone! Here’s a quick list of some of our favorite spots.
Enjoy!
1| WISCONSIN DELLS
Wisconsin Dells is known as the WaterPark Capital of the World—and for good reason! You can’t drive 5 minutes in the city without arriving at a waterpark. These are resorts that usually include lodging and a variety of water attractions. Some even feature roller coasters, arcades, restaurants, and many other amenities. While you’ll need plenty of patience to wait in line if you go on a busy weekend, weekdays and mornings or early afternoons tend to be a little quieter.
2| LA CROSSE
From beautiful bluff hikes and riverboat cruises to a lively nightlife and downtown scene, La Crosse is the perfect place for relaxation and indulgence. Explore its many local restaurants, bars, and downtown shops, and don’t forget to stop by the World’s Largest Six-Pack for a great photo-op!
3| MILWAUKEE
Milwaukee is a must-visit for any Wisconsin resident and also a popular destination among our neighbors to the south. And what better excuse to visit than the World’s Largest Music Festival? Summerfest is a yearly music festival that hosts a combination of world renowned artists and local, up and coming musicians. Food, expos, fireworks, water activities, and carnival rides are also a part of the event.
4| DOOR COUNTY
If you’re looking for a place to decompress and reconnect with yourself or with a partner, you need to look no further than Door County. Known for its cherries, cherry products, wineries, ferry boats, and beautiful shoreline, the area is the perfect place to leave the stress of the city behind and take in all the nature around you… and don’t forget all the winery tours!
5| BAYFIELD
This tiny town has less than 600 residents! Bayfield is the main gateway to the Apostle Islands, which are paradise for those who love to hike, camp, scuba dive, and even sail. Bayfield is located at the uppermost tip of the state, so it’s quite the drive to get there. However, with the beautiful rock formations, numerous outdoor activities, and lively and welcoming atmosphere around town, you’ll find that it’s well worth it.
There is so much to explore in this beautiful state! Did we miss any of your favorite getaway spots?
