THE HOTTEST 2021 PAINT COLOR TRENDS + THE PANTONE COLOR OF THE YEAR

Pantone®’s 2021 Color of the Year announcement is a treat for designers, artists, and decor lovers around the world, and we were excited to see two colors win the title this year! 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and 13-0647 Illuminating were the winners, which represent “a marriage of color conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting.” Cheers to that!

Here are our favorite paint color ideas and trends for 2021, including Ultimate Gray and Illuminating!

1| Sunny Bedroom

House Beautiful suggests that you give yellow walls some “levity” with gray accents. This look feels modern yet vintage, uses Pantone®’s 2021 colors, and is sure to result in happy morning feels.

2| Warm Cocoa

Warm colors are in for 2021, so why not dip your favorite spaces in chocolate? Brown, of course, is still a neutral, so you will be able to work with most of your current decor and furniture. This example from Good Housekeeping mixes mid-century furniture with a whimsical overhead fixture—we love this blend of refined and wild!

3| Blush is Best

Pink has been hot since … forever … but, it has had a dedicated fan base since millennials named it after their generation. Good Housekeeping says that pink is being used in spaces that were previously reserved only for white paint, so you might as well lean into being pretty in pink.

4| Breaking Brave Ground

Architectural paint brand Dulux named Brave Ground™ their color of the year. It’s warm, earthy, a bit muted, and is meant to communicate feelings of “stability, growth, and potential.” It’s a great background for your living spaces and works well with tons of accent colors like orange, red, and pink. This pink and brown bedroom is romantic and earthy—and kind of makes us hungry for chocolate-dipped strawberries. (We were hungry when we wrote this.)

5| Nature Retreat

Behr’s 2021 palettes aim to give us “Elevated Comfort” when we need it most. This combination uses their Jojoba (N390-3) and Broadway (PPU18-20) shades, which break down boundaries between inside and outside. The combo is comfy yet rejuvenating, like relaxing in a shady hammock in your backyard.

Since you’re daydreaming about 2021’s paint color trends (just like we are), perhaps you’re in the mood for more interior design and DIY ideas! Our blog is stacked with them.
