HISTORY
Named for a town in Switzerland and often called “America’s Little Switzerland,” New Glarus has been a magnet for Swiss immigrants for over 150 years. The village was settled by a “hardy band of 108 Swiss pioneers” in 1845. The village’s heritage is obvious in its chalet-style architecture, museums, festivals, and amazing Swiss food.

The New Glarus School District includes an elementary, middle, and high school. School ratings website Niche.com gives the district a B rating, with high grades in academics and teachers.
